Dog Adoption Party
So you have adopted a dog….CONGRATULATIONS! Why not introduce your new furry family member to your friends and family by throwing a dog party. There is nothing better than a dog adoption day celebration! Adopting a dog is truly a reason to celebrate. Each year, millions (yes, I said MILLIONS) of unwanted dogs are euthanized because there are simply not enough homes for all of them. Animal rescue groups do their best to save as many as possible but sadly, many never make it out of the shelter (or as you may call it, “The Pound”).
If you have recently adopted a pup…what are you waiting for…start planning his adoption day party now! Pick a party location (the local dog park is a great idea!) and invite all of your dog loving friends and family members (& their dogs too!). Print out information about the dog rescue from which you adopted your new friend and hand it out to your guests. Spread the word about other dogs that are available for adoption and desperately in need of homes. You never know, one of your friends may be interested in adding a new fur-friend to their family as well! If your friends don’t want to adopt a dog, be sure to let them know about the foster parent option! Many rescue groups are in need of doggie foster parents and will take all the help they can get. Plus, it is important to note that foster parents are not responsible for medical or food bills…the rescue group pays for everything! All you do is supply a loving and safe home until your foster friend is adopted.
In order for your new adopted friend to stand out at his party, why not buy him a special bandana! Instead of party gifts, ask people to donate a small amount to the rescue group that saved your new friend’s life. Remember to have plenty of fresh water available for your furry guests and consider baking some home-made dog treats for them to take home as a party favor.
Dog adoption day parties do not have to be expensive. After all, the purpose of this dog party is to introduce your new “adopted” dog to the important people in your life, as well as, to spread the word about dog adoption. Dog adoption is a wonderful thing….the PERFECT reason to throw a dog party!
